About us
A Swiss company with a clear mission
U-Sana Medical AG was founded in 2018 in Oberwil (BL) to transform the vision of Dr. Franz Freuler into a market-ready medical device. The idea originated back in 2005 when the orthopedic surgeon developed the first functional prototype.
Our goal is an innovative, easy-to-use, and aesthetically pleasing motorized toe CPM device for rapid recovery after hallux valgus surgery. Effectiveness, safety, user-friendliness, and quality are our central focus.

From idea to market maturity
Initial idea and successful prototype
Dr. Franz Freuler, orthopedic surgeon, develops the first functional prototype and successfully tests the concept for the first time.
Development and patent applications
Further development of prototypes in collaboration with foot orthopedists. First patent applications in Europe and the USA.
Founding of U-Sana Medical AG
The company U-Sana Medical AG is founded in Oberwil (BL), Switzerland, to drive the market launch forward.
Successful financing round and patent successes
Major financing round completed. Positive examination reports for patent applications. Initial presentations to professional audiences at Swiss orthopedic congresses.
Patents granted, trademark and design protected
European and US patents granted. Design protection secured. Presentations at Swiss orthopedic, rheumatology, and sports medicine congresses.
CE certification & market launch in Switzerland
Hall-U-Sana® receives CE certification as a medical device according to MDR 2017/745. The device is now available in Switzerland through the distributor Lüdi Medical Rehab AG.
Medical recommendation and congress presence
Dr. Gérard Farkas, Crossklinik Basel, provides a positive clinical assessment and recommends the device for broad clinical application. Presence at the SAMM congress in Interlaken.
Two further patent applications
The existing patent protection was supplemented by 2 patents to further increase patient safety.
CE certification of the second product generation with significantly improved performance & reliability.
Introduction of the revised second product generation with improved application.
Industrialization and market development
Industrialization and ramping up of production completed. Expansion of distribution to Germany and France as well as relaunch of the website.

At the annual congress of the Swiss Society for Manual Medicine, Lüdi Medical Rehab presented the Hall-U-Sana® toe CPM device.

Positive clinical assessment by Crossklinik Basel
Dr. Gérard Farkas confirms the convincing functionality of the device and recommends it for broad clinical application.
March 2025
Hall-U-Sana® remobilizes stiffened toes
Patient case shows: The device achieves around 70% of pre-operative mobility after 30 days, even with already stiffened toes.
CE certification according to MDR: Hall-U-Sana® now available for order
The toe CPM device receives CE certification as a medical device according to MDR 2017/745 and is available through Lüdi Medical Rehab AG.
